Sometimes, we will lost our valuable time while locating menu items or options dialog box or finding opened documents. Visual Studio 2012 came up with a quick solution for these problems, "Quick Launch". On top right corner of Visual Studio, a search text box with search icon is presented to quickly locate menu items or items in options dialog or recently opened documents.
Note: You can't search the code in side the documents.
This is an incremental search also, as you type, it will narrow the search results.
Instead of searching in all categories, If we want to search only in particular category, visual studio 2012 provides option for this. If we want to search only in menu items, we can specify as "@menu " in search text box. This will filter only menu items. Following are the possible options.
@mru -- Most recently used items(It display up to 5 items)
@menu - Menu items
@opt - Options dialog box
@doc - Opened documents file names and paths.
Visual studio 2012 provides Quick Launch options dialog, which can be used to hide/show quick launch, restrict search categories, and preserve search text in quick launch between the multiple search sessions.
