Bookmarks are not new. In fact, some of the readers may be surprised to learn that they were available in Visual C++ 6.0 also. Just try using Alt+F2 in the VC++ 6.0 IDE and see what happens.
They have been around, but did not have a universal set of keyboard shortcuts associated with them. The Ctrl+K combinations have only recently come about making this a much more user friendly feature.
And, SQL users - this is available in SSMS also (after all, SSMS is a Visual Studio shell).
