Data retrieval failed for the subreport in SSRS 2008

Apr 10 2012 12:00AM by Praveen

Hi Jason

I have created 2 reports in SSRS 2008 ReportA & ReportB, ReportA makes use of Date parameter. I am creating another report ReportC which has ReportA & ReportB as sub-reports. Not sure about how to pass the parameter for ReportA. I created Date Dataset for the Date parameter and passing values from Date Dataset to the Date parameter. When I try to preview the report "Data retrieval failed for the subreport, 'ReportA', located at: /ReportA. Please check the log files for more information." I get the following error message instead of ReportA and ReportB gets displayed with no issue. Please help me fix this.

Thanks in advance.................

  • can you test if it works without the date parameter?

Also have a look at the links below http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/sqlreportingservices/thread/7ad47b7e-b5ad-4794-8fee-f36820c10254 http://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/648560/subreport-with-shared-dataset-throws-error

If you are not able to solve the issue, can you send the reports to jason143@gmail.com so that I can have a look?

  • Thanks Jason, I tested taking the date parameter out. Still got the same error message not sure what exactly was causing the problem.
