We have just added some significant enhancements to the Just Learned module. This post tries to give a brief overview of those changes.

Associate a post with more than one section

This is one of the most frequently requested feature on this module. With the recent update, we added the provision to add a post into more than one category. A user with moderator permissions in the Just Learned module can do this as part of the review/approval process.

Please note that this tip is added to both General Technology Tips and Outlook Tips. This helps to ensure that each tips reaches a wider category of readers who may be interested in each of them.

Top Contributors and Teachers

We have added a small widget that shows the top contributors on the home page of Just Learned module as well as within each sections.

This widget shows the top 10 people based on the number of tips they have contributed to the entire Just Learned module (if you are on the home page) or to the specific section (if you are within a section such as SQL Server Tips)

Well, we still debate internally about the relevance of the heading of this widget :-) This shows contributors based on the total number of ‘Learned’ points they earned from their Tips. So if user X submitted a Tip and 25 readers ‘Learned’ from it, user X earns 25 ‘Learned’ points. This widget shows the top 10 users based on the total number of such points earned. Since this is based on the ‘Learned’ points, we thought of classifying those users as ‘Teachers’.

New Page - List of sections

We added a new page to the Just Learned section that lists the different sections within the module. 

This page displays a quick summary of each sections within the Just Learned module.

This allows to browse the sections by Most Recent Activity, Number of people following the section as well as the total number of tip submitted into each category.
