By default, the IE's security settings does not allow us to download files. To override it.

  1. Go to, Tools > Internet options >
  2. security > custom level.
  3. you will see a "security settings - Internet zone" dialog. Scroll down and find "Downloads". And Enable File Download.
  4. Press Ok.

  • This is a great tip. I always used to get lost within the IE security settings and always used to install firefox when IE did not allow me to download files. This tip will certainly help me next time.
