Did you check whether the SQL Browser is running ? Cause all the incoming connections to the named instance would be invalidated if sql browser is not running for the instance or you have not mentioned the port number or the named pipe in the connectio...

But I think your explanation of IAM pages is kind of incomplete.IAM pages are not used to track the pages associated with a table but rather the extents associated with an NC index or a hea...

Yes constraint do help in generating a optimal plan.A simple example would be of an non correlated sub query.Example
Select * from NameTable where Name= (Select Names from Person where Name='A')
Now without a unique constraint on the Name column ...

The article by fabiano focuses more on the statistics issues with the ascending columns than the querytraces. The issue was first reported by Gail Shaw more than 6 months back.

The article by fabiano focuses more on the statistics issues with the ascending columns than the querytraces. The issue was first reported by Gail Shaw more than 6 months back.
